Q&A with Bella Gill on “The Aftermath”

An Interview with Bella Gill—Pembroke, Massachusetts

  1. Who do you think could benefit from reading this book and why?

I think that all teenagers and young adults could benefit from reading this book. It encompasses a series of valuable lessons that high school students and maturing young adults face in the real world. Young people reading this book could benefit from learning about relatable struggles and conflicts through relationships, and social situations.

  1. What did you most enjoy about this story?

My favorite part of this story was watching Jason realize his past mistakes and how substances have ruined relationships and hurt the people around him. He makes an effort to gain forgiveness and appreciate his friends who are attempting to support him through this difficult time.

  1. What message does this book send to readers?

This book sends a message to readers and teenagers that high school reputations will not mean anything for you longterm. It teaches readers that having faith and knowing that you cannot control the actions of others will help you be the most successful and happy.

  1. What do you hope happens between Jason and Cathy in the future?

I hope to see Jason and Cathy reconcile their friendship and move past prior differences. Hopefully Cathy and her friends can change their ways and then the entire Montgomery High community will be on a better path.
