Q&A with Izzy Aldridge on “The Right Person”

Interview with Izzy Aldridge—Plymouth, Massachusetts

  1. Who do you recommend this book to?

Personally, I recommend this book to teenagers and kids entering high school. The book mainly focuses on freshmen who are age 15 so I think other 15 year olds will be able to relate well with the book and learn that people they chose to hang with, especially in high school, have a big influence. I think the book targets teenagers and will allow them to learn life lessons throughout it. Teenagers and upcoming teenagers will be very interested in high school life and drama of all the characters.

  1. What can be learned from Chris and Courtney’s story?

Readers can learn that relationships in high school can be very distracting and influencing. Chris and Courtney both had impacts on each other in negative and positive ways. Their relationship demonstrates how different types of people can cause one’s morals to change completely without even realizing it. They show that it is important to acknowledge that people change based on who they hang out with and how that change can affect someone’s behavior.

  1. What did you enjoy most about The Right Person?

Personally, what I most enjoyed about the book The Right Person was the religious alludes. I love how the book is already so impactful and inspiring but the religious addons reach a greater audience; it makes more people feel connected and more involved. It not only teaches the readers important life lessons about friends and highschool but also allows people to expand their religion or become more exposed to faith.

  1. What is one major theme you noticed running through the story?

One major theme I noticed while reading the story was that the people you chose to put yourself around will have a great impact on the person you are becoming and growing into.

  1. How do you, as a teenager, personally relate to this story?

Personally, being a teenager I relate to the story a lot. I have been peer pressured before in many situations just like some of the characters in the book. While being a junior in highschool I am constantly around people trying new substances and partying every weekend. I can relate to the negative aspects of the story but also the positive; many people in highschool have influenced me to become closer to God  as well and it has made me look deeper into my religion.
