Q&A with Izzy Aldridge on “The Aftermath” by Stacy Padula

An Interview with Izzy Aldridge—Plymouth, Massachusetts

  1. Who do you think could benefit from reading this book and why?

One can learn that drugs and alcohol will not always fill the missing void that someone may have.  To add on, this book can teach young teenagers that partying, drugs, smoking, alcohol, etc will not get them places in life but will moreover bring them down.

  1. What did you most enjoy about this story?

What I enjoyed most was the growth presented in the character Jason throughout the story. He was a much stronger and more matured teenager at the end of the book compared to the beginning. The story allows the audience to learn and change with Jason; following along with his struggles creates a lesson and the readers can learn from that as well.

  1. What message does this book send to readers?

One message that this book sends to the readers is that you should always put God and your morals before everything else; losing connection and relationship with God can cause one to steer down the wrong path. The book traces Jason’s story and highlights that staying grounded to your morals is very important and will cause you to be a better human overall, not just for yourself but for others around you as well.

  1. What do you hope happens between Jason and Cathy in the future?

I hope that Cathy can understand the reasoning of Jason’s actions, I hope that she can also maybe start to follow in his footsteps. Jason is becoming a better version of himself and I hope Cathy can take him as a guide to better herself. Cathay and Jason only associate each other with smoking and partying, so I hope to see them going to church together or praying together sometime in the future of the book.
