Izzy Aldridge Reviews “The Aftermath” by Stacy Padula

Izzy Aldridge—Plymouth, Massachusetts

The book The Aftermath  (Montgomery Lake High #3) by Stacy Padula advances the students’ journey at MLH. I have become very involved and comfortable with the characters’ personalities and I think that God has a great impact on all of them.

As this book is placed through the eyes of character Jason, the readers are able to get a better understanding of his struggles and how he seems to face them. The readers can experience the same guilt and confusion that Jason fears when he continues to blame himself for his classmate Andy’s accident. The accident can be seen as a wakeup call for Jason due to the fact that he had given up partying and substances. This book can include the readers by explaining, in-depth, the struggles and temptation that Jason endures.  This book, along with the other series of Montgomery Lake High, is very realistic and incorporates common life lessons throughout.

After reading The Aftermath, teens will now be exposed to the consequences of bad decisions, and the positive outcomes of good decisions. This book can be seen as a source for teens to navigate through high school or tough decisions regarding one’s morals. Overall, I highly recommend teenagers to read this book because it will reveal to them another perspective on challenges common highschoolers go through.
